Laser Engineering, Hamburg
In this role, you will play a key part in transforming advanced ultrafast fibertechnology from prototype systems into products for industrial and scientific applications.
You will work at the intersection of laser physics, nonlinear optics, systems engineering, and product development. You will be responsible for optical design, experimental validation and prototyping. Our mechanical design, electronics and software engineering teams will support you in developing a robust, market-ready product.
Your Tasks:
- Development of ultrafast fiber lasers operating at 1μm, 1.5 μm and 2 μm
- Development of fiber amplifiers and supercontinuum sources
- Characterization of light sources, e.g. measurement of pulse duration, optical spectra, phase noise and timing jitter.
- Technology scouting
You are an Expert in:
- Ultrafast high power fiber lasers/amplifiers such as EDFA, YDFA and CPA
- Nonlinear fiber optics and pulse propagation
- Ideally in numerical modeling/simulation of ultrafast fiber oscillators/amplifiers or ultrafast pulses propagating inside the optical fiber
Education and Experience:
- MSc degree in Physics/Laser Technology/Optical Technology with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience
- Fluent in written and spoken English and eager to learn German.
- PhD is highly welcome. Working on our cutting-edge technology will give you an unique opportunity to visit international conferences, collaborate with well-known research groups and publish scientific results.

You are passionate about technology and enjoy combining technical expertise with customer interaction. You enjoy taking ownership, working hands-on, and making a meaningful impact on our customers’ success and the future of Cycle.
Your tasks:
- Act as the primary technical and commercial contact for international customers and distributors
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, conferences, exhibitions, distributors, and online platforms
- Understand customer requirements and work closely with our engineering team to offer customized technical solutions
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals, quotations and product presentations
- Manage leads and opportunities through the complete sales process, from first contact to closure
- Support product launches, exhibitions, webinars, and other marketing activities
- Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to shape future products and business strategies
- Travel internationally to visit customers, distributors, and partners
Your profile:
- Degree in physics, electrical engineering, photonics, telecommunications or a related scientific or engineering discipline
- Experience in technical sales, application engineering or business development is an advantage; motivated graduates are also encouraged to apply
- Strong technical foundation in photonics, RF & microwave engineering, frequency & timing, precision instrumentation or related technologies
- Excellent technical communication and presentation skills
- Excellent written and spoken English; German is an advantage
- Willingness to travel internationally
